
Deepika Joon
Deepika Joon is coordinating the activities of UNESCO Chair in Higher Education for Sustainable Development at Leuphana University since 2020. In this role, she is responsible for the communications, reporting and representing the Chair in different forums within and outside the university. She is leading a niche project on Teacher Leadership for ESD implemented in Cyprus, Greece, Germany, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa and Zambia. In her capacity as project leader, she is also coordinating the Euro-Africa Teachers Network on ESD. In the past, she has led a project called Politics4Future aimed at teacher trainees on intersections between Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship Education.
Deepika is also pursuing her doctoral research on indicators for teacher leader development. In addition, she also teaches a research-based learning module in the winter semester. Before joining Leuphana University, Deepika worked at UNESCO on youth mobilization for peace, education and sustainable development. She is a CEE Change fellow with the North American Association for Environmental Education.
