We are a research group at Leuphana University Lüneburg. We work with the concept of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and conduct research and teach on how high-quality education can be designed to address socially relevant issues of the 21st century. In particular, we focus on subject studies (Sachunterricht) and their didactics, as well as on teacher training.

Current areas of focus include alternative assessment and evaluation approaches (instead of standardized grades), perspective-integrating teaching and learning approaches in the current general studies discourse, and issues of higher education and teacher training for sustainable development.

As an international team, we work in an interdisciplinary manner and approach new perspectives with openness. In our projects and courses, we actively incorporate ways of thinking, working, and acting from different disciplines and knowledge cultures. In addition to teaching and research, we are committed to bringing about change in educational practice and strengthening mutual learning processes between civil society and academia.
